The Australian Grand Prix is a Formula One race that is part of the annual FIA Formula One World Championship. It is held at the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit, Melbourne. The Grand Prix is the oldest surviving motor racing competition held in Australia having been contested 83 times since it was first run at Phillip Island in 1928. The Australian Grand Prix became a round of the FIA Formula One World Championship in 1985 with the last race of the season held on the street circuit in Adelaide, before moving to Melbourne in 1996.
